and civilization as we know it might very well be wiped out within months if not weeks!!

And you're wrong on every level. They fought for their own country against foreign invaders. And the US relied way too heavily on tech and gadgetry, and all the napalm, agent orange, mass bombings and atrocities against civilians weren't enough to break a third world country's spirit.

And it's peace through mutually assured destruction, not strength.
